Anti-scam initiatives

Prevention, information and protection against the most widespread scams

Scams don't go on vacation. The malicious, in fact, have no scruples and always go hunting for someone to cheat, especially older people.

Talk to your elders, family members or neighbors, and warn them of possible scams. A few tips are enough to help them defend themselves.

In recent months, in fact, there have already been many cases of the so-called fake nephew or fake lawyer scam: the recurring way is a phone call to the elderly during which a self-styled lawyer tells that a relative of the same elderly person, a son or a grandson, have been involved in an accident and would need, in order not to have problems with justice, to pay immediately, in cash, a sort of deposit. The victim, agitated by the agitated phone call and often disturbed in communication, believes the story and provides the cash to an emissary sent home by the fake lawyer, but in reality an accomplice of the same.

In the summer period, then, the danger of scams is greater due to the partial emptying of the cities. Seniors are the ones who are most alone. We have to let our grandparents and parents know that they are not alone. The State Police is always present and when you have doubts about the people you meet or who want to enter the house it is good to call 113 or the single emergency number 1 1 2.

If someone is the victim of a scam or theft, it is important to report what happened because this gives the police the opportunity to carry out investigations and prevent others from being defrauded.

Therefore, it is essential to always contact the police forces with confidence to report suspicious attitudes and to report dangerous situations.
