Carmine Abagnale is the new head of the Volunteering and Civil Protection Group of the National Association of the State Police of Milan.
Carmine Abagnale was born in 1953 in Sant'Antonio Abate, in the province of Naples, to a family of honest farmers. After classical studies at the Archbishop's Seminary of Sorrento, in 1972 he joined the State Police, starting a long career dedicated to security, legality and the service of institutions.
At only nineteen years old he was assigned to the 3rd Celere Department in Milan. In the course of his professional activity, he held numerous positions of responsibility until he reached the rank of Deputy Commissioner of the State Police.
From 1997 to 2006 he served at the DIGOS - General Investigations and Special Operations Division - of the Milan Police Headquarters as head of the investigative section. Subsequently, from 2006 to March 31, 2013, he carried out activities at the Rho-Pero Police Station. He retired on April 1, 2013 due to reaching age limits.
Throughout his career he also stands out for his strong union and associative commitment. He is among the founders of the movement for the trade union autonomy of the Police and the SAP - Autonomous Police Union, in which he holds important national positions, including Provincial Secretary of Milan, National Secretary, Deputy Secretary General and Vice President. (1981 – 1997)
In parallel with institutional activity, it develops an intense commitment to social, volunteering and cultural dissemination.
Journalist publicist since 1990, he directs numerous newspapers dedicated to the issues of security, legality and active citizenship. He is also a founding member of the association "Cittadini per la Sicurezza" and President of the National Association of the State Police of Milan, as well as responsible for the ODV Group and Civil Protection of Milan.
Over the years he organizes and participates as a speaker in numerous conferences on crime, youth discomfort, bullying, scams against the elderly and education in legality.
His political and administrative commitment is also important. In 2006 he was elected City Councilor of the Municipality of Milan in the lists of Forza Italia, a position confirmed in 2011 in the PDL lists. During his term he was a member of numerous council commissions, including those dedicated to security, anti-mafia, EXPO 2015 and sports. In 2009 he actively contributed to the international promotion of the Milan EXPO on behalf of Mayor Letizia Moratti by meeting numerous local authorities in the African continent exposing the motivations and organization of the EXPO organized in Milan.
In 2016 he was appointed Councilor of the Municipality 4 of the Municipality of Milan with delegations for security, public greenery, urban furniture and civil protection.

Spoused and father of three children, he lives in Saronno. His professional and institutional life has been constantly oriented towards the protection of citizens, the promotion of legality and the service of the State.
